Manor Downs.- a gem from summer 1982...Garcia breaks out his A list tunes, bird song, scarlet>fire, dew...great sounding board...not as good of a show as some of the great August shows from 1982 but still chock loaded with some hot stuff...now if anyone can upgrade Yale Bowl '71 that is another TDIH to mention, along with a 1974 show

Alabama Getaway-> Promised Land, Candyman, El Paso, Bird Song-> Little Red Rooster, Ramble On Rose, It's All Over Now, Brown Eyed Women, The Music Never Stopped, Deal

Scarlet Begonias-> Fire On The Mountain, Estimated Prophet-> Eyes Of The World-> Drums-> Uncle John's Band-> Truckin'-> Morning Dew-> One More Saturday Night, E: Don't Ease Me In

My apologies for my part in getting things off track. Not ill-intentioned, but stupid of me.

Anyway, yeah, nice high-energy show and great tour! It's also worth reading that story which is posted in the review section and starts "Boulder bay-guls!" and seems to be part short story, part memoir. Not the best place for it, but I read it on Deadnet and thought it was pretty neat.

And as it happens, it's also effectively Jerry's 40th Birthday Show, since I gather it goes past midnight. So, happy 69th -- well, not birthday, but commemoration, anyway.

I for one was ready to step out from behind the curtain, shower or otherwise, but that British Grandma thing really got my goat. You should know better--I am fine with abuse, but plz, no brits ref's on my lineage or my ma & da will roll over in their graves (or urns as the case may be). You should also be careful or the next thing you know, you'll be nominated for PM (ie, attempting to help "right" the ship).

I for one would accept that in a heartbeat; I think that you and Ring should be "co-PMs" (Prime Ministerettes?) with absolute power on deletion/regulation.

But, no one would go for it, I fear. Regulation, rules--guidelines; anal retentives like me thrive on that crap. What's pathetic is those that think any hint of such is some huge constitutional issue, blah, blah, blah. It's just a fricking Forum on the web.

So, I can go either way (I've painfully learned to ignore), but frankly, would prefer the highly regulated sort of Forum even if it metamuciled 95% of my posts off the Big Board...oh...hmmm, nevermind.

Of course, a big FAT:

Don’t fret, we know that your intentions are good and I thought the premise of your ‘social experiment’ post was interesting. It can be challenging to keep tuned in to this place at times, and the nonsense seems to come and go in waves. Thank goodness there are enough good guys around to make it worthwhile.

Listened to the second set of this show earlier today and thoroughly enjoyed it. Like elbow mentioned, great set list !

Sure, strat's a great guy and all, but ever notice no one EVER says, "lets get things back on track with CREAM, 9-15-67 or 10-4-68"? Now, what's up with that, eh?

Oh...yeah, nevermind. Low profile, D; good approach. Hope wherever you are, you're not melting...?

Back on track? With an 82 show? I mean, really, what depths of depravity has this place sunk to now?

Gemma, stick around - it's easy to tell fakesplue from the real deal so don't worry that anyone who matters is going to think it's you when it's not.

Thanks for the kind words - much appreciated!

Hex ltrs? Isn't it just a "font" issue? I knew you knew that splue was unique, if not idiosyncratic, but how you figure this out so fast--long before the likes of Tell, I can tell you--is impressive.

I tried to tell splue not to worry, but somehow botched it, per usual...my first post to newbie (relative) backfires, eh?

And, in the process, I learned a new word (term used loosely): "splue", to wit.

Um, I left for a bit, so I guess I’ll reply down here. I find that taking a break from posting can be rejuvenating, and besides that it seems like it is hard to get a noble word in edgewise around here of late. The heat has been offset with enough rain to keep me from melting, and the garden is loving both. And I am lucky to work in an air conditioned facility.

Always glad to know you are around, and anytime you want to talk about Cream is alright by me. One of my all time favorite bands, short lived as they were. Have found and downloaded many shows without too much effort, although the sound quality can really vary.

Let me echo Rob, D--the Forum's a better place for your input. It's so damn confusing at times that I take leave of it myself, rather than invest the effort to sort out who's who (which I used to spend too much time on, believe me). It's nice have more old instantly recognized friends, if I may, than 13 different spellings of Rob's handle to sort through (the two "v"s were tough on my old eyes!).

Sorry Tell, should have responded to this hours back. You're right - it's just a font thing. splue has a pretty distinctive posting fingerprint that's hard to replicate but the solid give away is the past posts thing - just a click is all it takes to turn a light on the cockroach.

He certainly is having a field day with your handle. Tricky business afoot – I even went so far as to copy poster names and paste them into Word to identify the original spelling.

That dang backflow preventer valve needs some fresh caulking. Full steam ahead !

Cream? Now you're trying to get us to listen to Prince???

What about a good 1968 Vanilla Fudge or 1969 Moby Grape.

Cream, Vanilla Fudge, Moby Grape? What is the The Food Network?

This was the show that hooked me. No I wasn't there, that wouldn't happen for several more years. It was a tape of this show, the 3rd i had obtained that made me realize that this band was different and i liked it. Aside from the band playing well during this period and especially moving forward through the next two weeks, the setlist was nearly perfect for someone who was just learning about the magic that was this band playing live.

Personally I'm partial to TDIH 1974, but this is one of my favorite '80s shows. One of the very best Scarlet>Fires ever, imo.
